Michal Zvalo, Charter Captain

Michael steps on board M/Y M3 for the commercial operation during charter season. Michal graduated with Business and Hotel management degree but brings extensive worldwide expedition cruising experience to the program. He was fortunate to circumnavigate the world several times with extensive cruising around North America, Pacific North West, South America, Mediterranean, Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Southeast Asia, South Pacific, and Micronesia. During this time he logged over 125 000 nautical miles and acquired great nautical knowledge and problem solving skills while maintaining the highest standard of service possible. Michael is a passionate photographer in his free time and if you won’t find him outdoors, he would be working in the garage on his car project.

Toby Smith, First Officer

Our First Officer Toby Smith is from Melbourne, Australia. He joined yachting in 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Before yachting, he spent his time snowboarding and travelled between Canada and Australia doing back-to-back winter seasons. While on yachts, Toby has spent time working all over the Caribbean, the US East Coast and the Mediterranean. Toby’s first position in yachting was on M/Y Kaleen where he worked his way up from Deckhand to Mate. After leaving Kaleen, he joined the Private/Charter yacht, M/Y Quantum of Solace, and travelled throughout the Bahamas, the East Coast of US and spent summers in the Mediterranean. His next position took him to North Palm Beach where he worked as First Officer on M/Y Mine Games until the boat sold in fall of 2013. Toby joined the crew of M3 in November of 2013.
In his free time he enjoys playing golf, surfing, snowboarding and staying active.

Malachi Child, Chef

Malachi hails from South Africa. At the age of 19 he left his home and started his career in the yachting industry. After 2 years in the industry Malachi chose to leave and look for a job as a junior Chef after he found himself very drawn to the galley. He got his first job at a gastro pub in west London and quickly got into the swing of cooking- working his way up the ranks. After winning a ITV cooking show Malachi was placed in a 2 star Restaurant and ended up running pastry for 5 months. After spending 5 years cooking in London Malachi went back home to South Africa. It was there that he became junior sous chef at the Roundhouse restaurant in Cape Town under the direction of Eric Bullpit; a former Noma Chef of which was number one in the world. After learning from Chef Bullpit, Malachi made the jump into the yachting industry and has worked as a yacht Chef for over five years. He enjoys every day that he is cooking on board and says that his love for food and produce will never die.

Chantal De Bruin - Chief Stewardess

Originally from Durban, South Africa, Chantal started her life in the corporate industry eventually working as a sales executive for Jaguar Land Rover, before finally succumbing to her love of the sea. Having been raised on the coast she has a natural wanderlust and after travelling all over the world for pleasure she finally settled into the yachting industry. Her journey began in December 2016 as a junior stewardess and she has since continued to grow and flourish into her 2nd stewardess position. When she is not giving the best service possible, Chantal loves to travel, explore new places and enjoy her time outdoors.

Jamie Storm - Second Stewardess

Born in Durban and raised in Cape Town, Jamie’s life has always revolved hugely around the ocean. Jamie grew up on the West Coast of South Africa and spent most of her days surfing, diving and chasing the next big adventure. Growing up she loved sports and was a keen lifesaver, which then led her to move to the United Kingdom to work as a Lifeguard and on Rescue Lifeboats. Being a sun lover and ocean fanatic she decided to join the yachting industry in December 2015 in Australia and has worked her way up the industries ladder over the years. She loves the outdoors, fitness and anything ocean related. Jamie has traveled extensively during her time in the industry and loves being at sea. During her 4 years in the industry she has been able to achieve a high level of guest service and attention to detail. With her approachable and cheerful manner, she aims to elevate all guest experience’s on board and can never be found without a smile on her face.

Rachael Avara - Stewardess
Hailing from the city of Baltimore, Maryland USA, Rachael joined the world of Yachting in December 2018. After six years as Director of Events for a luxury event planning firm, she was seeking a change of scenery and a little adventure on the high seas. Looking to merge her passion for hospitality and events with her love of travel, she joined the M3 team in December of 2019. She’s excited and enthusiastic to bring her talents to such an incredible team this season.

Brad Eichbauer - Mate

Brad grew up on the East coast of South Africa in Durban where at the age of 11 he discovered his passion for water sports and fishing. He went onto owning his own boats and jet skis by the time he finished School. He spent many weekends taking his friends and family out on the water, whether it was bass fishing, wakeboarding, jet skiing or even deep sea fishing. With his experiences as a skipper for his friends he realized his passion for guest satisfaction and hospitality. After 6 years of being a foreman for a manufacturing company he decided that two days a week was not enough time spent on the water. He was on the verge of starting his own fishing charter company before deciding to redirect his aim towards the yachting industry.

Matt Brown, Chief Engineer

Mathieu is the engineer aboard M3. He was born in Vancouver BC, Canada and raised between Canada and France. He speaks both English and French fluently. Mathieu became an engineer in the yachting industry to fulfill two of his favorite things in life: travel and fixing things. Other hobbies and activities include photography, hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, paddle boarding, kite-boarding and in general, just learning. His current big endeavor is building his VW camper van for a world-wide trek. He is seldom seen as his role aboard the vessel is to keep the boat in a safe and operable manner, requiring his work to be done behind the scenes. Mathieu is available anytime you have any technical issues or you would like to take a tour of the engine room.

Nico van der Walt – Deckhand / 2nd Engineer

Nico grew up in a small town called Middelburg, South Africa. Although raised far away from the ocean he always had a love for the sea as well as an eye for engineering. As a youngster Nico competed in all kinds of sports including rugby, cricket and field hockey. His hobbies consist of fishing, playing guitar and travelling.
Nico decided to chase his long-term dream of becoming a yacht engineer end of 2017. He looks forward utilizing his engineering skills as well as his deck experience to please all guests and to welcome you onboard.
