CAPTAIN PATRICK:
Captain Patrick is a St Thomas native, growing up fishing, swimming, diving and boating in the beautiful Virgin Islands waters. He worked for 17 years at the prestigious Ritz Carlton Thomas, eventually becoming the resort’s first native sailing captain before joining the Amazing Grace team. In his free time, Captain Patrick also is a much-loved local DJ so if you have special music requests, you’re in especially good hands with Amazing Grace.
ALESHA BOWMAN
Chef/2nd Captain
Alesha grew up in the very small ski village of Whitefish, Montana, nestled between the Rockies and the Canadian border. She spent her childhood fishing, skiing, camping, swimming and exploring. She was a tomboy who could almost keep up with three older brothers. And, she managed to suppress her feeling of being a landlocked mermaid, for a while. Her love of the water and life outdoors, being super active and part of a caring family, are all part of what made her future on charter yachts a dream come true.
Alesha attended the University of Montana on scholarship and achieved a degree in neuropsychology. After college, she accepted a position in social work, taking veterans and cancer survivors skiing, rafting, and climbing. She says, “It was a great way to bridge my degree with my love of the outdoors and philanthropy. As with most careers in social work, I also worked as a bartender and in high-end restaurants to supplement the salary.”
Four years ago, Alesha’s inner mermaid started making waves. So, she wrote down five locations, shuffled them in a hat, and picked St. Thomas. (Although, she feels in many ways, it chose her.) This new direction fed old passions and inspired new ones. She began working on yachts, as mate, stew, chef and sommelier, traveling around the world. She recently qualified as an Open Water Lifeguard and also has a Captain's Masters License.
Creativity is key in Alesha’s eclectic cuisine. She says, “I bring in all aspects of my travels and tell a story with my meals. My favorite foods are sushi and pie. My guests love my fresh passion fruit ceviche and fresh fish tacos.” In addition to making great meals, Alesha is wonderful at watersports instruction and always keeps guests smiling. Friends describe her as adaptable, reliable and hilarious. This lighthearted Chef lives by a motto everyone loves; laugh often and always have emergency chocolate - just in case.
DEBBIE GRACE:
Alternate Chef/2nd Captain
Debbie moved to St Thomas from Denver, Colorado, where she founded and still owns 24 Hour Sign Language Services. She is a formally trained Chef and creates some of the most memorable meals imaginable. Debbie believes in an island-style organic menu when available and arranges for fresh fish, meats and produce to be delivered to the yacht. She is a certified Scuba Instructor, certified Captain, and Owner of AMAZING GRACE. Debbie provides a uniquely special yachting experience for all of her guests, on a beautiful yacht, with delicious food, and a happy island spirit.
