Despite growing up 500km from the sea in rural Australia, Samuel fell in love with the water when working in Sydney. So much so that he’s been at sea ever since. Soon to enter his 10th year working on luxury sailing yachts he has plenty of experience. He’s got over 80 000 miles under his belt and is excited to go even further.
Job description
Samuel is responsible for navigation, safety, the overall running and financial management of the vessel, crew and guests. He ensures the safe and efficient operation of the yacht at all times, including compliance with all safety procedures and regulations. He takes care of adhering to flag regulations, port state and local laws and regulations, and manages the crew to ensure adherence to, and a full understanding of, the vessel’s policies. He provides daily leadership for the crew and encourages teamwork, individual growth and personal attention by delegating duties and supervising all crew tasks.

Job description
As a deckhand on board LEOPARD 3 Jack has to perform a variety of different roles. One minute he is flaking the sail and the next he is mixing up a round of cocktails for the guests, you may find him cleaning a cabin or preparing to drop the anchor down.

Lorenzo Habicher
Engineer, Italian
Sail and work experience
Lorenzo’s nautical career began on the small scale, leading dinghy sailing courses in Venice in the late 90’s. He then spent time as a cadet on the magnificent AMERIGO VESPUCCI. After a break from the sea which he spent in project management and product design he returned passionately to the industry as a freelance marine engineer. He has since worked on S/Y NAZCA and managed the re-building of M/Y JOLLY ROGER. He is now aboard LEOPARD 3 as an experienced and enthusiastic engineer. He speaks Italian, English, German, Italian and a little Russian.
Job description
Lorenzo is primarily responsible for maintenance and fault finding of all machinery and systems aboard. He also plays a critical part in the sailing and navigation of LEOPARD 3. Given the size and nature of the yacht it is not out of the ordinary for him to be taking part in supporting his crew mates in their daily tasks.

Roald has been in the yachting industry for 15 years, and has done plenty of sailing during that time. He has worked as a deckhand and mate on a number of different sailing and motor yachts, including two Swan 82’s. He’s been part of maintenance teams preparing the yacht for chartering and racing. Roald is an invaluable member of any race team and has tons of racing experience. He’s been aboard LEOPARD 3 since 2017 so knows the boat like the back of his hand. He speaks Dutch and English.

As a mate on board LEOPARD 3 Roald has to perform a variety of different roles. He assists with the sailing of the yacht as well as making sure that guests are comfortable and that everything is running smoothly aboard LEOPARD 3.

Skyla grew up on yachts, circumnavigating the globe with her family. She began her career at sea, completing a 4,500 delivery of a yacht from Finland to Mallorca. She then worked her way up the culinary ladder in a range of restaurants all over South Africa. After a brief stint as a private chef in Sweden Skyla returned to the sea aboard S/Y ALTAIA in October 2018. Having worked on two yachts since she finds herself aboard LEOPARD 3 more than capable to provide excellent service for charter guests.
Job description
Skyla is in charge of the galley and interior. She is responsible for guest and crew meals, assuring a rich variety of food as well as making sure their living environment is clean and welcoming. She estimates food needs, reviews in-ventory assuring adequate supplies are available whilst adhering to budget and guests’ expectations. Thanks to her creativity, she develops new recipes and ways of serving food in order to satisfy different guests’ wishes. Skyla also ensures that the food is relevant to the country being visited so that local cuisine can be enjoyed.
