Mike has previously captained a variety of motor and sailing yachts, including S/Y ONGHIARA, S/Y BOGEY I, S/Y SAPPHIRE, M/Y INVICTUS, M/Y POWDERMONKEY, and M/Y MARINA WONDER.
Sail and work experience
Part of a family of 6 children Mike was born in 1965, and first started sailing when he was 14.After his father retired from the British Army the family bought a boat and sailed off for an adventure, arriving in Antigua in 1988 where Mike charter career began, first on day charters then working on the bigger boats. Mike predominantly worked on sailing yachts and over the years had completed 7 Atlantic crossings and 3 Indian ocean passages. Mike took some time out in Australia with his wife Susie, to train as a chef and after a year here returned back to yachting, but with a young family on the way chose to base himself in France where he still lives today.
Mike spent his time in France running charter motor yachts culminating in the running of the 38m motor yacht “Marina Wonder “. He joined Marina Wonder from the very beginning and along with the Owner and his Wife, helped with all the stages of the design and build which took place in Dubai. After 7 years of successful chartering with “Marina Wonder “ Mike decided to return to his passion of sailing and reunited with a passed owner of 16 years ago and now runs the classic lined Bill Dixon designed “Tiga Belas” now available for Charter. With just over 30 years of sailing experience a love of food and wine from all areas as well as being an accomplished guitarist Mike will insure your stay on Tiga Belas will be unforgettable one.

Job description
Mike is responsible for navigation, safety, the overall running and financial management of the vessel, crew and guests. He ensures the safe and efficient operation of the yacht at all times, including compliance with all safety procedures and regulations. He takes care of adhering to flag regulations, port state and local laws and regulations, and manages the crew to ensure adherence to, and a full understanding of, the vessel’s policies. He provides daily leadership for the crew and encourages teamwork, individual growth and personal attention by delegating duties and supervising all crew tasks.
